Where prices come from

Every night we read the public online catalogues of Kenyan supermarkets, electronics shops, pharmacies and other stores. Some stores send us their price lists directly, and shoppers report shelf prices from shops that don't sell online.

We follow each website's robots.txt rules, keep our request rate low, identify ourselves honestly, and don't collect from stores that ask automated visitors to stay away.

How we match products

The same item is often named differently at each store. We match items by barcode where stores publish one, otherwise by brand, size, pack count and name. A person reviews uncertain matches. If you spot a wrong match, please tell us.

Accuracy

Prices change during the day and can differ by branch. Each price shows when we last checked it. We mark items we haven't confirmed recently as “not seen recently”. Prices far out of line with other stores are flagged “check price” and left out of comparisons. Always confirm the price at checkout.
